Mike Riley is going back to Cali
Even though Nebraska has already scooped up some of the best recruits that Cali has to offer, they’ve remained seated, toes in the sand and going nowhere. They think there’s more talent to be signed and they might be right, so why not meet with a few families and flip a commitment or two.
Apparently, their persistence paid off because both WR, Taariq Johnson and ATH/CB, Greg Johnson showed up at the Nebraska Purdue game and watched a Husker squad put a pounding on Purdue. I can only imagine the type of impression that could leave on the mind’s of two fickle four star recruits. Currently, Taariq is committed to Cal and Greg is committed to Arizona, but signing day wouldn’t be fun if everyone stayed loyal.
The reason Nebraska chose southern California is because Mike Riley used to coached the San Diego Chargers and later went on to Oregon State. Most PAC 10 teams have a pipeline in California and it looks like Mike is using all his connections to build something truly unique in Lincoln. If he can successfully mix midwest tough with west coast speed – I’m thinking the Huskers might have some hardware coming their way – at least a conference title or two.
From Calabasas to Cornhusker country
The first two big commitments Nebraska received from the LA area were both from Calabasas – QB, Tristan Gebbia and WR, Keyshawn Johnson Jr. – they currently play together at Calabasas High and are hoping to bring that synergy to Lincoln, NE.
Chemistry between quarterbacks and wide receivers shouldn’t be taken for granted. If they keep their off season schedule the same, these two will do real damage in college football. It’s been reported the duo have weekly workouts together, training camps, practices and even vacationing with each other’s families.
Keyshawn Johnson Jr.the is son of the actual Keyshawn Johnson and his father shed a little light no why he chose Nebraska over USC. He said his son picked the Huskers because of trust. Keyshawn Sr. didn’t get into specifics, but I can only imagine his son trusting his college quarterback before he even puts on a Nebraska uniform has has a lot to do with
