The Navy Midshipman are going to invade south Florida this Friday night at 7pm on ESPN2. Tune in and you’re guaranteed to see one of the most exciting teams this year.
Will Worth and the rest of the Midshipmen backfield run the triple option so well it’s scary, because if they need to – they can throw the ball down field just to spread the bread a little bit. The way Worth runs this offense forces defenses to stay on their toes . Opposing coaches and players that did their homework on him are naturally quite nervous come game time, but there are still a few teams caught off guard by how effective the Navy offense can be.
Going forward, teams can’t afford to be surprised that the Midshipmen are so good. I understand there was a time when their head coach was one of the best kept secrets in college football, but that’s a thing of the past. #6 Houston Cougars lost to #GangofGoats for a reason and it’s because they run the most patriotic play in football perfectly.
At the end of the day, the triple option takes discipline, guts and courage – especially by the quarterback. Most teams that could run it, don’t – for the simple reason their quarterback doesn’t have the guts to take to the bone-crushing hits that come along with last the minute pitches.
Luckily for the Midshipmen they have Will Worth. He’s a quarterback with the guts and the courage to take the hits, but more often than not – he doesn’t have to, because he makes the split second decisions other quarterbacks just aren’t able to make.
As long as Will Worth is at the helm for the #GangofGoats – watch out! Because they’re going to win the rest of their games, take home a conference title and make everyone respect the triple option like Tom Osborne did in the mid-90s.
So I think it’s safe to say Rocky the Bull and his two friends are going to witness a ground attack like no other – you heard it hear first – it’s going to be a blowout on Friday night and I think the Midshipman back field will rush for over 300 yards 6 touchdowns.
