Champaign, IL – In the latest example of IMG Academy producing some of the best players in the country, the football factory churned out yet another prototypical O-lineman – and his name is Verdis Brown. He’s big, athletic and committed to play at Illinois next fall and considering the big man was born and raised in windy city – this is fantastic news for his friends and family who almost lost him to FSU.
Verdis has originally committed to Florida State because of their winning tradition as well as their track record of catapulting their players to the NFL, but after Jimbo Fisher packed his bags for College Station Brown decided to reevaluate his decision.
This is a rare top-shelf pick up for the Fighting Illini and they’re hoping Brown will lay the groundwork for a recruiting pipeline between Champagne, Il and IMG Academy. To give you an idea of how valuable this type of pipeline would consider this, the Florida boarding school currently accounts for 11 of the top 250 players in the country according to this year’s Rivals.com Top 250.
