Houston Griffith heading to South Bend

South Bend, IN — The recruitment process can be a winding road for a lot of the top players in the nation and his was certainly the case for IMG standout Houston Griffith. Originally, Griffith was set to play for the Seminoles until their head coach Jimbo Fisher took the job at Texas A&M, and was promptly replaced by Oregon’s head coach Will Taggart.

It didn’t take long before FSU’s 2018 commitment list turned into a hybrid roster of Tomahawk diehards like Asante Samuel Jr and would-be Duck’s brought over to Tallahassee with coach Taggart. But in the meantime IMG superstars like Houston Griffith and Verdis Brown were packing their bags to head back to the midwest. Both Verdis and Houston are Chicago natives that ultimately opted to play closer to home than roll the dice on a under preforming FSU team with a brand new head coach.

While Veridis chose the Fighting Illini, his former teammate committed to the Fighting Irish. So if people didn’t think the luck of the Irish was a real thing, think again. Because random coaching changes in Oregon, Florida and Texas somehow led to Notre Dame landing a lockdown cornerback that’s ready to make an impact on day one.
